Colonel Artem Gorodilov is the Commander of the 83rd Guards Air Assault Brigade and the former Commander of the 234th Guards Air Assault Regiment, which is part of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division. The 234th Guards Air Assault Regiment participated in a massacre of civilians in Bucha when that city was occupied by Russian troops in the early days of the war. Artem Gorodilov led the 234th Guards Air Assault Regiment at the time and was present in Bucha where hundreds of civilians died, in some cases as a result of brutal executions.

The 76th Guards Air Assault Division was at the forefront of Russia’s February 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, with different elements of the division reportedly involved in fighting north of Kyiv, in Kharkiv Oblast near the city of Izyum and in the eastern Luhansk Oblast around Popasna.

The personnel of those 106th Airborne Division units were involved in war crimes against the civilians in Kyiv Oblast, including in Bucha, Hostomel and Irpen. Those atrocities constitute crimes against humanity and war crimes.

He participated in the annexation of Crimea in 2014, leading special forces operations. Vadim Pankov commanded units during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. His brigade was involved in the occupation of Bucha. He is accused of ordering the execution of 30 local residents and forcing civilians to remove the bodies of dead Russian soldiers. Those atrocities constitute crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Vadim Pankov has been awarded the title of “Hero of the Russian Federation”.

His battalion’s reconnaissance activities supported the broader “cleansing operations” that led to documented war crimes. He personally participated in torturing civilians during the Russian occupation of Bucha in March 2022.
