Long-term resident's EC residence permit 1. The status as long-term resident shall be permanent, subject to Article 9. 2. Member States shall issue a long-term resident's EC residence permit to long-term residents. The permit shall be valid at least for five years; it shall, upon application if required, be automatically renewable on expiry. 3. A long-term resident's EC residence permit may be issued in the form of a sticker or of a separate document. It shall be issued in accordance with the rules and standard model as set out in Council Regulation (EC) No 1030/2002 of 13 June 2002 laying down a uniform format for residence permits for third-country nationals(6). Under the heading "type of permit", the Member States shall enter "long-term resident - EC".
