Data protection officer in the PIU

Article 5

1. The PIU shall appoint a data protection officer responsible for monitoring the processing of PNR data and implementing relevant safeguards. 2. Member States shall provide data protection officers with the means to perform their duties and tasks in accordance with this Article effectively and independently. 3. Member States shall ensure that a data subject has the right to contact the data protection officer, as a single point of contact, on all issues relating to the processing of that data subject's PNR data.
