s 1 Short title and commencement
(1) This Act may be cited as the Geological Survey Act 1974 and shall apply throughout Malaysia.
(2) This Act shall come into force on such date as the Minister may by notification in the Gazette appoint; and the Minister may appoint different dates for the coming into operation of different provisions of this Act and different dates may be appointed for different States or parts of Malaysia:
Provided that no date shall be appointed under this section in respect of Sabah and Sarawak unless the Governments of those States have been consulted.

(1) Akta ini bolehlah dinamakan Akta Penyiasatan Tajuk Kajibumi, 1974 dan hendaklah dipakai di seluruh Malaysia. Brkai*
(2) Akta ini hendaklah mula berkuatkuasa pada tarikh kuasa. yang dıtetapkan oleh Menterı melaluı pemberitahu dalam 7Warta; dan Menteri boleh menetapkan tarikh-tarikh yang Bukan yangnterlaimala blam Akta i dan parint-tarik yan. berlainan boleh ditetapkan bagi Negeri-negeri atau bahagian-bahagian Malaysia yang berlainan: PUCB)103/26. Dengan syarat bahawa tıada apa-apa tarıkh boleh ditetapkan di bawah seksyen ini mengenai Sabah dan Sarawak melainkan lika Kerajaan bagi Negeri-negeri itu telah dirundingi.
