s 86 Patent agents
(1) There shall be kept at the Patent Registration Office a Register of Patents Agents.
(2) No person shall carry on business, practice, act, describe himself, hold himself out, or permit himself to be described or held out, as a patent agent unless he is registered in the Register of Patents Agents.
(3) The registration of a patent agent mentioned in subsection (2) shall be in accordance with the regulations as may be prescribed by the Minister under this Act.
(3A) The Registrar may cancel the registration of a patent agent on the grounds as may be prescribed.
(4) The appointment or change of a patent agent—
(a) shall be made in the form as determined by the Registrar together with the payment of the prescribed fee; and
(b) shall not be effective against any third person unless the appointment or change is registered in the Register of Patents Agents.
(5) A person who is not a resident may not proceed before the Patent Registration Office under the provisions of this Act except through a patent agent.

Ejen paten
(1) Maka hendaklah disimpan suatu Daftar Ejen Paten di Pejabat Pendaftaran Paten.
(2) Tiada seorang pun boleh menjalankan perniagaan, menjalankan amalan, bertindak, memperihalkan dirinya, mengemukakan dirinya, atau membenarkan dirinya diperihalkan atau dikemukakan, sebagai seorang ejen paten melainkan jika dia didaftarkan dalam Daftar Ejen Paten.
(3) Pendaftaran seorang ejen paten yang disebut dalam subseksyen (2) hendaklah menurut peraturan-peraturan sebagaimana yang ditetapkan oleh Menteri di bawah Akta ini.
(3A) Pendaftar boleh membatalkan pendaftaran seorang ejen paten atas alasan sebagaimana yang ditetapkan.
(4) Pelantikan atau pertukaran seorang ejen paten—
(a) hendaklah dibuat dalam bentuk sebagaimana yang ditentukan oleh Pendaftar bersama dengan pembayaran fi yang ditetapkan; dan
(b) tidak boleh berkuat kuasa terhadap mana-mana orang ketiga melainkan jika pelantikan atau pertukaran itu didaftarkan dalam Daftar Ejen Paten.
(5) Seseorang yang bukan pemastautin tidak boleh berurus dengan Pejabat Pendaftaran Paten di bawah peruntukan Akta ini kecuali melalui seorang ejen paten.
