s 5A Non-application of Act to University established under treaty, etc.

(1) The provisions of this Act shall not apply to any higher educational institution with the status of a University which is authorized to be established by an order made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong under subsection (2) and any private higher educational institution conferred with the status of a University or University College under any written law. (2) The Yang di-Pertuan Agong may by order published in the Gazette authorize the establishment of any higher educational institution having the status of a University, whatever its name or style, if he is satisfied that it is to be established pursuant to any treaty, agreement or convention between Malaysia and any other country or pursuant to any agreement between Malaysia and an international organization.
