s 4 Sovereign rights in, and jurisdiction over, the exclusive economic zone
In the exclusive economic zone Malaysia has—
(a) sovereign rights for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the natural resources, whether living or non-living, of the sea-bed and subsoil and the superjacent waters, and with regard to other activities for the economic exploitation and exploration of the zone, such as the production of energy from the water, currents and winds;
(b) jurisdiction with regard to—
(i) the establishment and use of artificial islands, installations and structures;
(ii) marine scientific research;
(iii) the protection and preservation of the marine environment; and
(c) such other rights and duties as are provided for by international law.

Dalam zon ekonomi eksklusif, Malaysia mempunyai-
(a) hak-hak kedaulatan bagi maksud menjelajah dan mengeksploit, memelihara dan menguruskan sumber alam, sama ada hidupan atau bukan hidupan, dari dasar laut dan tanih bawah dan peraıran superjasen, dan mengenaı aktıvıtı- aktıvıtı laın bagı pengeksploitan ekonomı dan penjelajahan zon, seperti pengeluaran tenaga dari air, arus dan angin;
(b) bidang kuasa mengenai-
(i) penubuhan dan penggunaan pulau buatan, pepasangan dan struktur;
(ii) penyelidikan saintifik laut; (ii1) perlindungan dan pemeliharaan alam sekitar laut; dan

(c) apa-apa hak dan kewajipan lain sebagaimana diperuntukkan oleh undang-undang antarabangsa.
