s 53 Retired police officers not liable to serve may opt to serve
(1) Notwithstanding section 52 a police officer who is not liable to serve in the Reserve on the grounds that his appointment to the Force was before the date referred to in that section may be enrolled as a member of the Reserve:
Provided that no police officer shall be enrolled as a member of the Reserve if he has been on retirement for a period of ten years or has attained the age of five years greater than the age for compulsory retirement, whichever is the earlier.
(2) The following sections of this Part shall apply to a police officer enrolled as a member of the Reserve under this section as they apply to a police officer liable to serve in the Reserve.

Pegawai Polis bersara yang tidak bertanggungan berkhidmat boleh memilih untuk berkhidmat
(1) Walau apa pun seksyen 52 seorang pegawai polis yang tidak bertanggungan untuk berkhidmat dalam Polis Simpanan atas alasan bahawa pelantikannya dalam Pasukan adalah sebelum tarikh yang disebut dalam seksyen itu boleh didaftarkan sebagai seorang anggota Polis Simpanan:
Dengan syarat bahawa tiada seorang pun pegawai polis boleh didaftarkan sebagai anggota Polis Simpanan jika dia telah bersara selama tempoh sepuluh tahun atau telah mencapai umur lima tahun lebih daripada umur persaraan yang diwajibkan, mengikut mana yang lebih awal.
(2) Seksyen yang berikut dalam Bahagian ini hendaklah terpakai bagi seorang pegawai polis didaftarkan sebagai seorang anggota Polis Simpanan di bawah seksyen ini sebagaimana ia terpakai bagi seorang pegawai polis yang bertanggungan berkhidmat dalam Polis Simpanan.
