[Subsection 18(2)] CORE SUBJECTS IN THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM 1. The core subjects in the National Curriculum shall form the theNaubicts in fundamental basis of the education of a pupil in all schools within the National Education System. Core subjects at the primary level. Corc subjects at the levci. 2. The core subjects at the primary school level shall be- (a) the National Language; (b) the English Language; (c) the Chinese Language, for pupils in national-type schools (Chinese); (d) the Tamil Language, for pupils in national-type schools (Tamil); (e) Mathematics; (f) Science; (8) Local Studies; (h) Islamic Education, for pupils professing the religion of Islam; and (i) Moral Education, for pupils not professing the religion of Islam. 3. The core subjects at the secondary school level shall be- (a) the National Language; (b) the English Language; (c) Mathematics; (d) Science; (e) History; (f) Islamic Education, for pupils professing the religion of Islam; and (8) Moral Education, for pupils not professing the religion of Islam.
