s 99 Transitional provision relating to teachers
(1) A person who, on the date of coming into force of this Act, is in the employment of a private higher educational institution as a teacher whether on a full time or part time basis—
(a) who has been registered as a teacher or is deemed to have been registered under the Education Act 1996 shall, within one month from the date of coming into force of this Act; or
(b) who has been issued or is deemed to have been issued with a permit to teach under the Education Act 1996 shall—
(i) within one month before the expiry of such permit; or
(ii) within one month from the date of coming into force of this Act,
whichever is the later,
apply for a permit to teach under Part IX of this Act.
(2) Pending the determination of the application for a permit to teach referred to under subsection (1), such person may continue to teach in the private higher educational institution and shall in those circumstances be deemed to be lawfully teaching.
(3) The acknowledgement letter, issued by the Registrar General in respect of an application for a permit to teach under this section, shall be sufficient proof of the making of such application.

Peruntukan peralihan berhubungan dengan guru
(1) Seseorang yang, pada tarikh mula berkuat kuasanya Akta ini, sedang bekerja dengan suatu institusi pendidikan tinggi swasta sebagai guru sama ada secara sepenuh masa atau sambilan—
(a) yang berdaftar sebagai guru atau disifatkan telah berdaftar sebagai guru di bawah Akta Pendidikan 1996 hendaklah, dalam masa satu bulan dari tarikh mula berkuat kuasanya Akta ini; atau
(b) yang telah dikeluarkan kepadanya atau disifatkan telah dikeluarkan kepadanya permit mengajar di bawah Akta Pendidikan 1996 hendaklah—
(i) dalam masa satu bulan sebelum permit itu habis tempoh; atau
(ii) dalam masa satu bulan dari tarikh mula berkuat kuasanya Akta ini,
mengikut mana-mana yang terkemudian,
memohon untuk mendapatkan permit mengajar di bawah Bahagian IX Akta ini.
(2) Sementara menanti permohonan bagi mendapatkan permit mengajar yang disebut di bawah subseksyen (1) diputuskan, orang itu boleh terus mengajar di institusi pendidikan tinggi swasta itu dan hendaklah dalam hal keadaan itu disifatkan mengajar secara sah.
(3) Surat akuan terima yang dikeluarkan oleh Ketua Pendaftar berkenaan dengan permohonan untuk mendapatkan permit mengajar di bawah seksyen ini hendaklah menjadi bukti yang mencukupi tentang pembuatan permohonan itu.
