s 140 Secrecy in relation to the Shariah Supervisory Council

(1) No member, officer, servant or agent of the Shariah Supervisory Council or person who has by any means access to any record, book, register, correspondence, document, material or information, relating to the business and affairs of the Shariah Supervisory Council in the performance of his duties or the exercise of his functions, shall give, divulge, reveal, publish or otherwise disclose to any person such record, book, register, correspondence, document, material or information unless he is lawfully required to do so by any court or under any written law. (2) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to both.

Kerahsiaan berhubung dengan Majlis Penyeliaan Shariah

(1) Tiada anggota, pengawai, pekhidmat atau ejen Majlis Penasihat Syariah atau orang yang mempunyai dengan apa-apa cara akses kepada mana-mana rekod, buku, daftar, surat -menyurat, dokumen, bahan atau maklumat yang berhubungan dengan perniagaan dan hal ehwal Majlis Penyeliaan Syariah dalam pelaksanaan kewajipan atau penjalanan fungsinya, boleh memberikan, membuka, mendedahkan, menyiarkan atau selainnya menzahirkan kepada mana-mana orang apa-apa rekod, buku, daftar, surat-menyurat, dokumen, bahan atau maklumat itu melainkan jika dikehendaki secara sah untuk berbuat demikian oleh mana-mana mahkamah atau di bawah mana-mana undang-undang bertulis. (2) Mana-mana orang yang melanggar subseksyen (1) melakukan suatu kesalahan dan boleh, apabila disabitkan, didenda tidak melebihi lima ratus ribu ringgit atau dipenjarakan selama tempoh tidak melebihi satu tahun atau kedua-duanya.
