(1) Any licence granted under this Act in contravention of the provisions of this Act relating to the granting of licences, shall be deemed to be void but it shall be a defence for a person charged with committing an act without a licence authorizing him to do so, to produce a void licence purporting to authorize him to commit the act unless he committed the act knowing that the licence was void.
