WHEREAS, the people of the Municipality of Pitogo, Province
of Bohol, clamored for the change of their town's name to President Carlos P.
Garcia to perpetuate the memory of Bohol's illustrious son who rose from humble
beginnings to become the fourth President of the Republic of the Philippines,
and first President of the 1971 Constitutional Convention;
WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol passed
Resolution No. 48 dated April 28, 1977, requesting the President to issue a
decree changing the name of Pitogo, Bohol to President Carlos P. Garcia;
WHEREAS, the proposed change of name of the Municipality is
in line with the present national trend of honoring its heroes and men of
remarkable achievements;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby
order and decree;
