§ 122 — Duration of copyright in sound recordings

122.—(1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), any copyright in a sound recording expires —(a)

if the recording is first published within 50 years after the end of the year in which the recording is made — 70 years after the end of the year in which the recording is first published; and

(b)

in any other case — 70 years after the end of the year in which the recording is made.

(2) If a sound recording is first published on or before 31 December 2022, any copyright in the recording expires 70 years after the end of the year in which the recording is first published.

(3) If the making of a sound recording was completed before 10 April 1987 —(a)

this section does not apply to the recording; and

(b)

section 522 applies instead.
