Appointment of Director-General and authorised officers

3.—(1) The Minister may appoint any person to be the Director-General of Public Health who is responsible for the administration of this Act except where expressly provided otherwise, subject to the general or special directions of the Minister.[11/2019] [Act 5 of 2025 wef 09/03/2025] (1A) An appointment under subsection (1) must be published in the Gazette.[Act 5 of 2025 wef 09/03/2025] (2) The Director-General may in writing appoint any of the following persons to be an authorised officer for the purposes of this Act:(a) a public officer; (b) an officer or auxiliary officer of the Agency; (c) an officer of any statutory authority; (d) an auxiliary police officer appointed under the Police Force Act 2004.[4/2016]

Delegation of power by Director-General

4.—(1) The Director-General may, with the approval of the Minister, delegate the exercise of all or any of the powers conferred or duties imposed upon the Director‑General by this Act to any authorised officer, subject to any conditions or limitations that the Director‑General may specify. (2) The Director-General may, with the approval of the Minister, appoint any person set out in the first column of the Fourth Schedule as an authorised officer for the purposes of exercising all or any of the powers under this Act that are set out in the second column of that Schedule, subject to any conditions or limitations that the Director‑General may specify.
