Short title

1. This Act is the Institute of Technical Education Act 1992.

Interpretation

2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires —“Board” means the Board of Governors established under section 7(1); “Chairperson” means the Chairperson of the Board appointed under section 7(3); “Chief Executive Officer” means the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, and includes any individual acting in that capacity; “commerce or industry” includes any trade, manufacturing or service industry, business or other related activity; “Deputy Chairperson” means the Deputy Chairperson of the Board appointed under section 7(4); “Institute” means the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore established under section 3; “member” means a member of the Board; “technical skills” means the skills acquired through technical education and training or other means for employment in commerce or industry; “Vocational and Industrial Training Board” means the Vocational and Industrial Training Board established under the repealed Vocational and Industrial Training Board Act (Cap. 345, 1985 Revised Edition).
