(1) This Act may be cited as the National Forestry Act 1984 and shall apply throughout Malaysia.
(2) This Act shall not come into force in a State unless it has been adopted by a law made by the Legislature of the State pursuant to Clause (3) of Article 76 of the Federal Constitution.
(3) This Act shall come into force in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
(4) This Act shall come into force in any other Federal Territory on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint; and in its application in such Territory this Act shall be subject to such modifications as the Minister may, from time to time, by order provide.

Tajuk ringkas, pemakaian dan permulaan kuat kuasa
(1) Akta ini bolehlah dinamakan Akta Perhutanan Negara 1984 dan adalah terpakai di seluruh Malaysia.
(2) Akta ini tidaklah boleh berkuat kuasa dalam sesuatu Negeri melainkan ia telah diterima pakai oleh suatu undang-undang yang dibuat oleh Badan Perundangan Negeri menurut Fasal (3) Perkara 76 Perlembagaan Persekutuan.
(3) Akta ini hendaklah mula berkuat kuasa bagi Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur pada suatu tarikh sebagaimana ditetapkan oleh Menteri melalui pemberitahuan dalam Warta.
(4) Akta ini hendaklah mula berkuat kuasa bagi mana-mana Wilayah Persekutuan lain pada suatu tarikh sebagaimana ditetapkan oleh Menteri melalui pemberitahuan dalam Warta; dan dalam pemakaiannya bagi Wilayah itu Akta ini hendaklah tertakluk kepada apa-apa ubah suaian sebagaimana yang boleh diperuntukkan oleh Menteri dari semasa ke semasa melalui perintah.
