s 47 Search of person
(1) An investigating officer may search any person whom he has reason to believe has in his possession any property, book or other document, or other article whatsoever, necessary, in his opinion, for the purpose of investigation into any offence under this Act, the Co-operative Societies Act 1993 or any other written law enforced by the Commission, and for the purpose of such search may detain such person for such period as may be necessary to have the search carried out, which shall not in any case exceed twenty-four hours without the authorization in writing of a Magistrate, and may remove him in custody to such place as may be necessary to facilitate such search. (2) An investigating officer making a search of a person under subsection (1) may seize, detain or take possession of any property, book, document or article, found upon such person for the purpose of the investigation being carried out by him. (3) No female person shall be searched under this section and section 46 except by another female.
