s 55 Te m p o r a r y e x e r c i s e o f f u n c t i o n s a n d p o w e r s o f Commissioner
(1) The Minister may temporarily appoint a Deputy Commissioner to perform the functions and powers of the Commissioner for the period when—
(a) the Commissioner is by reason of illness, leave of absence or any other cause unable to perform his functions for any substantial period; or
(b) the office of the Commissioner is vacant.
(2) A person appointed under subsection (1) shall, during the period in which he is performing the functions and exercising the powers of the Commissioner under this section, be deemed to be the Commissioner.

Penjalanan sementara fungsi dan kuasa Pesuruhjaya
(1) Menteri boleh melantik secara sementara seorang Timbalan Pesuruhjaya untuk melaksanakan fungsi dan kuasa Pesuruhjaya selama tempoh apabila—
(a) Pesuruhjaya atas sebab sakit, tidak hadir dengan kebenaran atau apa-apa sebab lain tidak boleh melaksanakan fungsinya bagi apa-apa tempoh yang lama; atau
(b) jawatan Pesuruhjaya kosong.
(2) Seorang yang dilantik di bawah subseksyen (1) hendaklah, semasa tempoh dia melaksanakan fungsi dan menjalankan kuasa Pesuruhjaya di bawah seksyen ini, disifatkan sebagai Pesuruhjaya.
