s 189 Establishment of a Regular Forces Reserve
(1) There shall be raised and maintained in Malaysia a Regular Forces Reserve which shall consist of—
(a) officers who are required to serve in a Reserve of Officers under subsection 188(1);
(b) all servicemen of the regular forces who at the commencement of this Act are serving in the reserve in pursuance of the terms of their enlistment; and
(c) all servicemen of the regular forces who in pursuance of the terms of their enlistment are transferred to the reserve on completion of their full-time service.
(2) In each year the expenditure proposed to be incurred on the Regular Forces Reserve shall be included in the total of the estimates of the expenditure to be incurred on the armed forces.

Penubuhan suatu Simpanan Angkatan Tetap
(1) Maka hendaklah ditubuhkan dan dikekalkan di Malaysia suatu Simpanan Angkatan Tetap yang hendaklah mengandungi— *CATATAN — Seksyen 188 masih belum berkuat kuasa — lihat subseksyen 1(2) Akta Angkatan Tentera (Pindaan) 1996 [Akta A974].
(a) pegawai-pegawai yang dikehendaki supaya berkhidmat dalam suatu Simpanan Pegawai di bawah peruntukan subseksyen 188(1);
(b) semua askar-lasykar daripada angkatan tetap yang pada permulaan kuat kuasa Akta ini sedang berkhidmat dalam simpanan menurut terma pengambilan masuk mereka; dan
(c) semua askar-lasykar angkatan tetap yang menurut terma pengambilan masuk mereka ditukarkan kepada simpanan apabila tamat perkhidmatan sepenuh masa mereka.
(2) Dalam setiap tahun perbelanjaan yang dicadangkan akan dilakukan bagi Simpanan Angkatan Tetap hendaklah dimasukkan ke dalam jumlah anggaran perbelanjaan yang akan dilakukan bagi angkatan tentera.
