SEC. 6. Section thirty-eight of the same Act is likewise amended to read as follows: "SEC. 38. All officers or employees of the Government detailed for census work shall continue to receive in full their usual salaries during the time of such detail, but not from census funds; and no such officer or employee shall be regarded as absent from duty in the bureau or office from which he was detailed. Any such officer or employee may also receive compensation over and above his usual salary, from census funds, which compensation shall be payable in a single sum on the satisfactory termination of the census work assigned him, or monthly, at the end of the month, as the Governor-General may determine."
