Section 60

SEC. 60. Assistant chief of police.—There shall be an assistant chief of police whose duties shall be to act as chief of police in the absence or inability to act of the chief of police, and under the direction of such chief, to take charge of the fire department and of its equipment and machinery and to perform such other duties as may be imposed upon him by the chief of police or prescribed by law or ordinance.
