An Ordinance to provide for the declaration of federal roads, bridges, ferries and other means of communication. [31st August, 1957.] IT IS HEREBY ENACTED by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council as follows: 1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Federal Roads Short title. Ordinance, 1959, and shall be deemed to have come into force on Merdeka Day. 2. In this Ordinance- Interpreta- "Minister" means the Minister charged with responsibi- tion. lity for transport. 3. The Minister may after consultation with the Govern- Power to ment of the State concernea, by order declare any road, roads, etc., bridge, ferry or other meams of communication State to be Federal. 4. Any order under section 3 shall be published in the Ordertobe Gazette and, as soon as possible thereatter, shall be laid House of before the House of Representatives; and if, at the next Representa- tives. meeting of the House of Representatives aiter any such order is laid before it a resolution is passed annulling such order or any part thereot, such order or such part thereot shall, but without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done thereunder, be void as from the date of notification in the Gazette of the passing of such resolution. 5. The roads, bridges and ferries specified or referred to Saving in the declaration made by the High Commissioner on the fourteenth day of August, 1957, in pursuance ot item 91 of the Second Schedule of the Federation of Malaya Agreement, 1948, and published as Legal Notification 339 of 1957 are hereby declared to be federal, and declaration shall, for the purpose of amendment, variatior or revocation thereof, be deemed to be an order duly made under sections 3 and 4.
