s 14 To avoid distress

In cases where the rent of the immediate tenant of such superior landlord is in arrear, it shall be lawful for the superior landlord to serve upon any under-tenant or lodger a notice (by registered post addressed to such under-tenant or lodger upon the premises) stating the amount of such arrears of rent, and requiring all future payments of rent, whether the same has already accrued due or not, by such under-tenant or lodger to be made direct to the superior landlord giving such notice until such arrears shall have been duly paid, and such notice shall operate to transfer to the superior landlord the right to recover, receive, and give a discharge for such rent.

Untuk mengelakkan distress

Dalam keadaan di mana sewa penyewa terdekat tuan tanah atasan itu dalam tunggakan, adalah sah bagi tuan tanah atasan untuk menyampaikan kepada mana-mana penyewa kecil atau penginap suatu notis (melalui pos berdaftar yang dialamatkan kepada penyewa kecil atau penginap tersebut di atas premis itu) menyatakan amaun tunggakan sewa itu, dan memerlukan semua bayaran sewa masa depan, sama ada sewa itu telah pun terakru yang kena dibayar atau tidak, oleh penyewa kecil atau penginap itu dibayar terus kepada tuan tanah atasan yang memberi notis itu sehingga tunggakan itu telah dibayar dengan sewajarnya, dan notis itu hendaklah memberi kuat kuasa memindahkan kepada tuan tanah atasan hak untuk mendapat, menerima, dan memberi suatu lepasan bagi sewa itu.
