s 19 Lawful custody
(1) A person shall be in lawful custody—
(a) where he is taken into custody by an officer under this Act;
(b) while he is resident at a Rehabilitation Centre under this Act;
(c) while he is being taken from or to any place, or while he is engaged in any activity under this Act outside a Rehabilitation Centre, during the period that he is under an order made under this Act to reside at a Rehabilitation Centre.
(2) Subsection (1) shall not apply to a person who is admitted to a Rehabilitation Centre under section 8 or 9.
(3) Any person who escapes from lawful custody as referred to in subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to *imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to whipping not exceeding three strokes, or to both.

Jagaan yang sah di sisi undang-undang
(1) Seseorang adalah berada di dalam jagaan yang sah di sisi undang-undang —
(a) jika dia ditahan dalam jagaan oleh seseorang pegawai di bawah Akta ini;
(b) semasa dia menjadi penghuni di Pusat Pemulihan di bawah Akta ini;
(c) semasa dia sedang dibawa dari mana-mana tempat atau ke mana-mana tempat, atau semasa dia sedang melibatkan dirinya dalam apa-apa aktiviti di bawah Akta ini di luar Pusat Pemulihan, sepanjang tempoh yang dia dikenakan suatu perintah yang dibuat di bawah Akta ini supaya tinggal di Pusat Pemulihan.
(2) Subseksyen (1) tidak terpakai bagi seseorang yang dimasukkan ke Pusat Pemulihan di bawah seksyen 8 atau 9.
(3) Mana-mana orang yang lepas lari dari jagaan yang sah di sisi undang-undang sebagaimana yang disebut dalam subseksyen (1) melakukan suatu kesalahan dan, apabila disabitkan, boleh *dipenjarakan selama tempoh tidak melebihi lima tahun atau disebat tidak melebihi tiga sebatan.
