s 3 Application of Act to Muslims to be subject to Islamic law
This Act shall have effect in the States of Johore, Kedah, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Selangor, Terengganu and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur in relation to Muslim married women and their property, rights and obligations subject to the Islamic law and the customs of the Malays governing the relations between husband and wife so far as the same may be applicable, and in the States of Malacca and Penang subject to the Islamic law of the States in all cases to which such last mentioned Islamic law extends.

Pemakaian Akta bagi orang Islam hendaklah tertakluk pada undang-undang Islam
Akta ini hendaklah mempunyai kuat kuasa di Negeri Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Selangor, Terengganu dan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur berhubung dengan perempuan Islam bersuami dan harta, hak dan obligasi mereka tertakluk pada undang-undang Islam dan adat orang Melayu yang mengawal hubungan antara suami dengan isteri setakat yang undang-undang itu terpakai, dan di Negeri Melaka dan Pulau Pinang tertakluk pada undang-undang Islam bagi Negeri itu dalam segala hal yang diliputi oleh undang-undang Islam yang akhir disebut itu.
