(1) A layout-design shall be protected under this Act for a period of ten years from the date the layout-design is first commercially exploited in Malaysia or elsewhere. (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), the protection granted to a layout-design under this Act shall lapse fifteen years after the date the layout-design is created.
(1) Sesuatu reka bentuk susun atur adalah terlindung di bawah Akta ini bagi tempoh selama sepuluh tahun dari tarikh reka bentuk susun atur itu mula-mula dieksploitasikan secara perdagangan di Malaysia atau di tempat lain. (2) Walau apa pun subseksyen (1), perlindungan yang diberikan kepada reka bentuk susun atur di bawah Akta ini hendaklah habis tempoh lima belas tahun selepas tarikh reka bentuk susun atur itu
