s 63 Absconded person
(1) For the purposes of this Act, a person shall be treated as if he had been convicted of a serious offence if the person absconds in connection with a serious offence and any reference in this Part to the defendant shall include a reference to such person.
(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), a person shall be treated as if he had absconded in connection with a serious offence if, before or after the commencement date—
(a) an investigation for a serious offence has been commenced against the person; and
(b) the person—
(i) dies before proceedings in respect of the offence were instituted, or if such proceedings were instituted, the person dies before he is convicted of the offence; or
(ii) at the end of the period of six months from the date on which the investigation referred to in paragraph
(a) was commenced against him, cannot be found, apprehended or extradited.

Orang yang melarikan diri
(1) Bagi maksud Akta ini, seseorang hendaklah dianggap seolah-olah telah disabitkan atas suatu kesalahan berat jika orang itu melarikan diri berkaitan dengan sesuatu kesalahan berat dan apa-apa sebutan dalam Bahagian ini tentang defendan hendaklah termasuk sebutan tentang orang itu.
(2) Bagi maksud subseksyen (1), seseorang hendaklah dianggap seolah-olah dia telah melarikan diri berkaitan dengan suatu kesalahan berat jika, sebelum atau selepas tarikh permulaan kuat kuasa—
(a) penyiasatan suatu kesalahan berat telah dimulakan terhadap orang itu; dan
(b) orang itu—
(i) mati sebelum prosiding berkenaan dengan kesalahan itu dimulakan, atau jika prosiding itu telah dimulakan, orang itu mati sebelum dia disabitkan atas kesalahan itu; atau
(ii) pada akhir tempoh enam bulan dari tarikh penyiasatan yang disebut dalam perenggan (a) itu dimulakan terhadapnya, tidak dijumpai, ditangkap atau diekstradisikan.
