Armed Forces Act 1972 s 16
(1) Persons may be enlisted in the regular forces: Provided that only persons being Malays shall be enlisted in the Royal Malay Regiment. (2) Where the person enlisted under subsection (1) is a volunteer, the Armed Forces Council may recognize the reckonable service, if any, of that volunteer including his last rank and other matters connected therewith, as reckonable service. (3) For the purpose of subsection (2), section 36 shall apply.
Siapa yang boleh diambil masuk
(1) Mana-mana orang boleh diambil masuk ke dalam angkatan tetap: Dengan syarat bahawa hanya orang Melayu boleh diambil masuk ke dalam Askar Melayu Diraja. (2) Jika orang yang diambil masuk di bawah subseksyen (1) ialah seorang anggota sukarela, Majlis Angkatan Tentera boleh menerima perkhidmatan yang diambil kira anggota sukarela itu, jika ada, termasuk pangkatnya yang terakhir dan perkara lain yang berkaitan dengannya, sebagai perkhidmatan yang diambil kira. (3) Bagi maksud subseksyen (2), seksyen 36 hendaklah terpakai.
