(1) Where a child with respect to whom an education supervision order is in force persistently fails to comply with any direction given under the order, the Education Authority shall notify the appropriate authority. (2) Where an authority has been notified under sub-paragraph (1) it shall investigate the circumstances of the child. (3) In this paragraph “the appropriate authority” means— (a) in the case of a child who is being provided with accommodation by or on behalf of an authority, that authority; (b) in any other case, the authority in whose area the child lives, or will live.
