(1) In section 34 of that Act (attendance at court of parent of child or young person charged with an offence etc.), in subsection (1) after the word “offence" there shall be inserted “ is the subject of an application for a care or supervision order under Part IV of the Children Act 1989" ” . (2) In subsection (7) of that section after the words “Children and Young Persons Act 1969" there shall be inserted “ or Part IV of the Children Act 1989" ” . (3) After subsection (7) of that section there shall be inserted— (7A) If it appears that at the time of his arrest the child or young person is being provided with accommodation by or on behalf of a local authority under section 20 of the Children Act 1989, the local authority shall also be informed as described in subsection (3) above as soon as it is reasonably practicable to do so.
