Sch 5 para 9

(1) After copies of proposals have been sent to the Secretary of State and before they have been adopted by the planning authority, the Secretary of State may direct that the proposals shall be submitted to him for his approval. (2) In that event— (a) the authority shall not take any further steps for the adoption of the proposals, and in particular shall not hold or proceed with a local inquiry or other hearing or any consideration of objections in respect of the proposals under paragraph 7, and (b) the proposals shall not have effect unless approved by the Secretary of State and shall not require adoption by the authority.
