The Armed Forces (Court Martial) Rules 2009 reg 40

reg 40 Parent or guardian of young civilian

(1) This rule applies where a person to whom proceedings relate (“the young person”)— (a) is under the age of 18 years at the commencement of the proceedings; and (b) is not subject to service law. (2) Where a party to the proceedings or the court administration officer is required to serve any document on the young person under these Rules, he must also serve it on the young person's parent or guardian. (3) Where the young person has not appointed a legal representative— (a) any right conferred on a party to proceedings by these Rules may be exercised, and any duty imposed on him by these Rules (except pleading to a charge) discharged, by his parent or guardian on his behalf; and (b) the judge advocate may give leave for his parent or guardian to represent him in any proceedings.
