Electrical Inspectorate Act 1983 Part III — Functions, duties and powers of inspectorate

The Director General, Deputy Director Generals, Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors of Electrical Inspectorate and such other officers shall carry out such functions and duties as follows: (a) to regulate the interval and manner in which Be inspectical installation or equipment shal! (b) to devise the nature of test to be employed and to prescribe minimum qualifications and practical experience for any purpose in pursuance of this Act; (c) to investigate any accident or fire involving any electrical installation; (a) to prostallatibese elesrical octhractossa don manufacturers, and competent persons; (e) to issue licences for public and private installations; (f) to prescribe the minimum standards and specifications and appraise and approve, where necessary, any electrical installation or equip- be styled vrate and Directors, ; may be ifficers as ch duties ș, Deputy appointed direction CTORATE enerals ctors o cers shall in which lent shall loyed and and prac- :in the involving gistration tors and ns; ate instalards and ive, where or equip- [Pt. (1) A Director may for the purposes of discharging Power of any of his duties or carrying out any of his functions inspection, under this Act or any regulations, or otherwise for any examination, of the purposes of this Act or any regulations to enter— seal. (a) at any reasonable time upon any land, house or building with or without supply of energy to inspect and examine any part of an installation or equipment, or for other proper cause, (b) upon any land, house or building if he is under reasonable suspicion that an offence is being committed under this Act and may seize or seal any articie or thing or installation or part thereof, as the case may be. (2) A Director shall at all times carry an official a Director except upon production of the identification

Any person who- (a) wilfully delays; ‹b) fayis to comply with any order lawtully given (c) wilfully withholds any information from; or (d) obstructs in any manner, whatsoever, a Director in the exercise of his functions, duties and powers, shall be guilty of an offence and on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding five thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.
