s 5 Conservation, registration of library material, national bibliography and statistical record
In relation to library material delivered under subsections 4(1) and (2), the Director General shall have the following functions:
(a) to provide for the conservation and use of the library material;
(b) to maintain a register containing such particulars of the library material;
(c) to publish a national bibliography at stated frequency containing particulars of such library material as the Director General deems fit;
(d) to maintain statistical records of library material; and
(e) to perform such other functions that are necessary to give effect to the objective of section 3.

Pemuliharaan, pendaftaran bahan perpustakaan, bibliografi Negara dan rekod statistik
Berhubung dengan bahan perpustakaan yang diserah di bawah subseksyen 4(1) dan (2), Ketua Pengarah hendaklah mempunyai fungsi berikut:
Penyerahan Bahan Perpustakaan
(a) untuk menyediakan bagi pemuliharaan dan penggunaan bahan perpustakaan;
(b) untuk menyelenggarakan suatu daftar yang mengandungi butir-butir bahan perpustakaan;
(c) untuk menerbitkan bibliografi Negara pada kekerapan yang ditetapkan yang mengandungi butir-butir bahan perpustakaan itu sebagaimana yang difikirkan patut oleh Ketua Pengarah;
(d) untuk menyelenggarakan rekod statistik bahan perpustakaan; dan
(e) untuk melaksanakan apa-apa fungsi lain yang perlu untuk memberi kesan kepada tujuan seksyen 3.
