Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research Act 2012 s 46
s 46 Property rights to research findings, etc.
(1) The property rights to every research finding or programme undertaken by the Institute that is funded entirely by grants made to the Institute by the Federal Government or any State Government shall vest in the Institute.
(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), the Institute may reward the officer or person responsible for the research finding or programme in such manner as it deems fit.
(3) The property rights to every research finding or programme undertaken by the Institute that is funded by a private enterprise or organization shall vest in the Institute and such private enterprise or organization jointly, subject to the terms of any agreement between the Institute and the private enterprise or organization.

Hak pemilikan bagi dapatan penyelidikan, dsb.
(1) Hak pemilikan bagi setiap dapatan penyelidikan atau program yang dijalankan oleh Institut dan dibiayai sepenuhnya oleh pemberian yang diberikan kepada Institut oleh Kerajaan Persekutuan atau Kerajaan Negeri hendaklah terletak hak pada Institut.
(2) Walau apa pun dalam subseksyen (1), Institut boleh memberi ganjaran kepada pegawai atau orang yang bertanggungjawab bagi dapatan penyelidikan atau program itu dengan cara yang difikirkan sesuai.
(3) Hak pemilikan bagi setiap dapatan penyelidikan atau program yang dijalankan oleh Institut yang dibiayai oleh badan perusahaan atau organisasi persendirian hendaklah terletak hak bersama pada Institut dan badan perusahaan atau organisasi persendirian tersebut, tertakluk kepada terma dalam apa-apa perjanjian antara Institut dengan badan perusahaan atau organisasi persendirian tersebut.
