The A40 London to Fishguard Trunk Road (M40 Junction 8 to A44 Wolvercote Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2002

Section 1

This Order may be cited as the A40 London to Fishguard Trunk Road (M40 Junction 8 to A44 Wolvercote Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2002, and shall come into force on 30 March 2002.

Section 2

In this Order—

(i) “principal” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

(ii) “the trunk road” means the A40 London to Fishguard Trunk Road (A40)

Section 3

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Oxfordshire County Council that they will become the highway authority responsible for that length of road.
