The Communications (Television Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations 2008

Section 1 Citation, commencement and extent

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Communications (Television Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and come into force on 1st April 2008.

(2) These Regulations extend to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Section 2 Amendment of the 2004 Regulations

The Communications (Television Licensing) Regulations 2004 (“the 2004 Regulations”) are amended as set out in Regulations 3 to 6 of these Regulations.

Section 3 Amendment of Schedule 1

In Schedule 1 (Issue fees for TV licences)—

(a) for “£45.50” in each place where it occurs substitute “£47.00”;

(b) for “£135.50” in each place where it occurs substitute “£139.50”.

Section 4 Amendment of Schedule 2

(1) Schedule 2 (Fees for TV licences payable by instalments) is amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph 2(1), for “£35.14” and “£35.12” substitute, respectively, “£36.14” and “£36.12”.

(3) In each of paragraphs 5(1) and 6(1), for “2007” substitute “2008”.

(4) For table 1 substitute table 1 in the Schedule to these Regulations.

(5) For table 2 substitute table 2 in the Schedule to these Regulations.

(6) In paragraph 7(6)—

(a) in paragraph (b) for “2007” substitute “2008”; and

(b) for “£79.05” and “£11.29” substitute, respectively, “£81.40” and “£11.62”.

(7) For table 3 substitute table 3 in the Schedule to these Regulations.

(8) In paragraph 9, for paragraph (c) substitute—

(c) the amount of each of the first 18 of those instalments is to be £5.50 and the amount of each of the remaining 7 instalments is to be £5.00.

(9) In paragraph 11—

(a) in sub-paragraph (1) for “£70.50” substitute “£71.50”;

(b) in sub-paragraph (2) for “£57.50” substitute “£58.50”;

(12) In paragraph 14—

(b) in sub-paragraph (2)(b) for “£15.70” and “£15.60” substitute, respectively, “£16.20” and “£16.10”;

(c) in sub-paragraph (2)(c) for “£21.00” and “£20.50” substitute, respectively, “£21.60” and “£21.50”;

Section 5 Amendment of Schedule 3

(1) In the table in Part 1 of Schedule 3 (Fees for interim TV licences) for “£3.791” and “£11.291” substitute, respectively, “£3.916” and “£11.625”.

(2) In paragraph 1(5)(b) of Part 2 of that Schedule (Interim TV licence (including colour): payment by instalments) for “£135.50” substitute “£139.50”.

Section 6 Amendment of Schedule 5

In Schedule 5 (TV licence fees for hotels and hospitality areas, and mobile units)—

(a) for “£45.50” in each place where it occurs substitute “£47.00”; and

(b) for “£135.50” in each place where it occurs substitute “£139.50”.

Section 7 Saving and transitional provision

In relation to a TV licence issued before 1st April 2008 Schedules 1 to 5 to the 2004 Regulations continue to have effect without the amendments made by these Regulations.
