Section 1Citation and commencement

(1) This Order may be cited as the Wealden (Electoral Changes) Order 2016.

(2) This article and article 2 come into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.

(3) Articles 3 to 16 and Schedules 1 and 2 come into force—

(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary, or relating, to the election of councillors, on 15th October 2018;

(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England and Wales in 2019.

Section 2Interpretation

(1) In this Order “the map” means the map marked “Map referred to in the Wealden (Electoral Changes) Order 2016”, held by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.

(2) Where a boundary is shown on the map as running along a road, railway line, footway, watercourse or similar geographical feature, it is to be treated as running along the centre line of the feature.

Section 3Wards of the district of Wealden and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the district of Wealden are abolished.

(2) The district of Wealden is divided into 41 wards as listed in the first column of the table in Schedule 1.

(3) Each ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of the table in Schedule 1.

Section 4Wards of the parish of Buxted and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Buxted are abolished.

(2) The parish of Buxted is divided into three parish wards as listed in the first column of table 1 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 1 in Schedule 2.

Section 5Wards of the parish of Crowborough and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Crowborough are abolished.

(2) The parish of Crowborough is divided into six parish wards as listed in the first column of table 2 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 2 in Schedule 2.

Section 6Wards of the parish of Forest Row and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Forest Row are abolished.

(2) The parish of Forest Row is divided into three parish wards as listed in the first column of table 3 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 3 in Schedule 2.

Section 7Wards of the parish of Frant and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Frant are abolished.

(2) The parish of Frant is divided into three parish wards as listed in the first column of table 4 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 4 in Schedule 2.

Section 8Wards of the parish of Hailsham and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Hailsham are abolished.

(2) The parish of Hailsham is divided into seven parish wards as listed in the first column of table 5 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 5 in Schedule 2.

Section 9Wards of the parish of Heathfield & Waldron and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Heathfield & Waldron are abolished.

(2) The parish of Heathfield & Waldron is divided into five parish wards as listed in the first column of table 6 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 6 in Schedule 2.

Section 10Wards of the parish of Herstmonceux and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Herstmonceux are abolished.

(2) The parish of Herstmonceux is divided into three parish wards as listed in the first column of table 7 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 7 in Schedule 2.

Section 11Wards of the parish of Pevensey and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Pevensey are abolished.

(2) The parish of Pevensey is divided into two parish wards as listed in the first column of table 8 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 8 in Schedule 2.

Section 12Wards of the parish of Polegate and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Polegate are abolished.

(2) The parish of Polegate is divided into three parish wards as listed in the first column of table 9 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 9 in Schedule 2.

Section 13Wards of the parish of Uckfield and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Uckfield are abolished.

(2) The parish of Uckfield is divided into five parish wards as listed in the first column of table 10 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 10 in Schedule 2.

Section 14Wards of the parish of Westham and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Westham are abolished.

(2) The parish of Westham is divided into three parish wards as listed in the first column of table 11 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 11 in Schedule 2.

Section 15Wards of the parish of Willingdon & Jevington and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Willingdon & Jevington are abolished.

(2) The parish of Willingdon & Jevington is divided into three parish wards as listed in the first column of table 12 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 12 in Schedule 2.

Section 16Wards of the parish of Withyham and number of councillors

(1) The existing wards of the parish of Withyham are abolished.

(2) The parish of Withyham is divided into two parish wards as listed in the first column of table 13 in Schedule 2.

(3) Each parish ward comprises the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the parish ward.

(4) The number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward is the number specified in relation to that ward in the second column of table 13 in Schedule 2.
