Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Water Abstraction (Revocations etc.) (England) Order 2017 and comes into force on 1st January 2018.

Section 2 Revocations

(1) The Orders mentioned in Part 1 of the Schedule are revoked .

(2) The Orders mentioned in Part 2 of the Schedule are revoked so far as they relate to inland waters or underground strata in England.

Section 3 Amendment of the Northumbrian Water Authority Act 1981

(1) The Northumbrian Water Authority Act 1981 is amended as follows.

(2) Omit section 4 (exception of small abstractions from licensing control).

(3) In subsection (2) of section 5 (registration of abstractions excepted from licensing control)—

(a) at the end of paragraph (b) omit “; and”;

(b) omit paragraph (c).

(4) In section 6 (classification of springs for exception from licensing control) omit the words from “or for an order” to “this Act”.
