These regulations may be cited as the Sanctions (Damages Cap) Regulations 2022 and come into force on the day after the day on which they are made.

Section 2Damages cap
(1) The amount specified for the purposes of section 39(2A) (court reviews: cap on damages) of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 is £10,000.
(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply where the court considers that it is necessary to disapply that paragraph because failure to do so would be a breach of the appropriate person’s Convention rights (within the meaning of the Human Rights Act 1998 ).
