Section 1 Citation, commencement and extent

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the British Nationality (British Overseas Territories) (Amendment) Regulations 2023.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

(3) These Regulations come into force on 8th November 2023.

Section 2 Amendments to the British Nationality (British Overseas Territories) Regulations 2007

(1) Schedule 3 to the British Nationality (British Overseas Territories) Regulations 2007 is amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph 1(a), for “or Northern Ireland” substitute “, a registrar” .

(3) In paragraph 1(b), after “Scotland,” insert “a registrar,” .

(4) After paragraph 1(b) insert—

(ba) in Northern Ireland, any justice of the peace, commissioner for oaths, notary public, or a person authorised by the Secretary of State;

(5) After paragraph 2 insert—

(3) In this Schedule, a “ registrar ” means a registrar within the meaning of section 41(3B) of the Act.
