The West Suffolk (Electoral Changes) Order 2023

Section 1 Citation, commencement, extent and application

(1) This Order may be cited as the West Suffolk (Electoral Changes) Order 2023.

(2) This article and article 2 come into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.

(3) Article 3 comes into force—

(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on 1st April 2023;

(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England in 2023.

(4) Article 4 comes into force—

(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on 15th October 2024;

(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England in 2027 .

(5) This Order extends to England and Wales but applies in relation to England only.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this Order—

(a) “ the Council’s Order of 11th October 2022 ” means the West Suffolk (Reorganisation of Community Governance) (Dalham, Ousden, Denston, Wickhambrook, Worlington, Red Lodge) Order 2022 ;

(b) “ the Council’s Order of 27th October 2022 ” means the West Suffolk (Reorganisation of Community Governance) (Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Rushbrooke with Rougham) Order 2022 .

Section 3 Alteration of district ward boundaries

(1) Notwithstanding the amended parish boundary between the parish of Rushbrooke with Rougham and the parish of Bury St Edmunds provided for under the Council’s Order of 27th October 2022, that part of the existing Moreton Hall district ward which remains in Rushbrooke with Rougham parish is to be transferred from Moreton Hall district ward to Rougham district ward.

(2) The part of the parish of Worlington that becomes part of the parish of Red Lodge by virtue of the Council’s Order of 11th October 2022 ceases to be part of the Manor district ward and becomes part of the Iceni district ward.

Section 4 Alteration of a county electoral division boundary

The part of the parish of Worlington that becomes part of the parish of Red Lodge by virtue of the Council’s Order of 11th October 2022 ceases to be part of the Mildenhall county electoral division and becomes part of the Red Lodge county electoral division.
