(1) These Regulations are called the Education (Assembly Learning Grant Scheme) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 15th November 2002.
(2) These Regulations apply in relation to local education authorities in Wales.

In the Education (Assembly Learning Grant Scheme) (Wales) Regulations 2002 , for the Schedule substitute—
PURPOSE FOR OR IN CONNECTION WITH WHICH GRANT IS PAYABLE
(1) The making of post-compulsory education awards known as Assembly Learning Grants under the Local Education Authority (Post-Compulsory Education Awards) (Wales) Regulations 2002 to persons—
(a) whose financial resources, as assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Assembly Learning Grant Scheme, do not exceed the level of financial resources specified in the conditions of eligibility for that Scheme; and
(b) who meet the other conditions (if any) of eligibility for that Scheme,
for the purpose referred to in paragraph 2.
(2) That purpose is to enable persons to undertake courses of further or higher education designated for the purposes of that Scheme, by providing financial assistance in or towards meeting the cost of books, equipment, travel or childcare incurred in consequence of their attending such a course.
