s 164 Criminal records checks: verification of identity
(1) Section 118 of the Police Act 1997 (evidence of identity) is amended as follows. (2) In subsection (1) after “117” insert “ or 120 ” . (3) After subsection (2) insert— (2A) For the purpose of verifying evidence of identity supplied in pursuance of subsection (1) the Secretary of State may obtain such information as he thinks is appropriate from data held— (a) by the United Kingdom Passport Agency; (b) by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency; (c) by Driver and Vehicle Licensing Northern Ireland; (d) by the Secretary of State in connection with keeping records of national insurance numbers; (e) by such other persons or for such purposes as is prescribed.
