(1) Subject to paragraph 2, these Regulations apply to a vessel placed on the market on or after the commencement date. (2) These Regulations do not apply to— (a) a vessel specifically designed for nuclear use, failure of which may cause an emission of radioactivity; (b) a vessel specifically intended for installation in or the propulsion of ships and aircraft; and (c) fire extinguishers. (3) In paragraph (2), “ ship ” has the meaning given by section 313 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 .
