(1) The Commissioner may by notice in writing require any person in possession of any heritage object which is deemed to be of a national importance or interest, not to sell or dispose of such object without prior written consent of the Commissioner.
(2) Any person who receives such notice shall not sell or dispose of any heritage object in his possession or custody.
(3) Within the period of thirty days from the date of the notice under subsection (1) the Commissioner shall have the first right to purchase such heritage object at an agreeable value.
(4) Any person who contravenes subsection (2) commits an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding ten thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to both.

Penjualan atau pelupusan objek warisan
(1) Pesuruhjaya boleh melalui notis secara bertulis menghendaki mana-mana orang yang memiliki apa-apa objek warisan yang disifatkan sebagai mustahak atau penting kepada negara, tidak menjual atau melupuskan objek itu tanpa terlebih terdahulu mendapat keizinan bertulis daripada Pesuruhjaya.
(2) Mana-mana orang yang menerima notis itu tidak boleh menjual atau melupuskan apa-apa objek warisan dalam milikan atau jagaannya.
(3) Dalam tempoh tiga puluh hari dari tarikh notis di bawah subseksyen (1) Pesuruhjaya hendaklah mempunyai hak pertama untuk membeli objek warisan itu pada nilai yang boleh dipersetujui.
(4) Mana-mana orang yang melanggar subseksyen (2) melakukan suatu kesalahan dan boleh apabila disabitkan didenda tidak melebihi sepuluh ribu ringgit atau dipenjarakan selama tempoh tidak melebihi satu tahun atau kedua-duanya.
