Section 1 Title and commencement

Section 2 Interpretation

(1) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

(2) In this Order “Department” includes the Head of a Department.

Section 4 Functions of the Department of Education

(2) ... The Department of Finance and Personnel shall be responsible for formulating and sponsoring policies for the improvement of community relations in Northern Ireland.

(3) Without prejudice to the generality of paragraph (2), the powers of the Department of Finance of Personnel under that paragraph include—

(a) giving financial or other assistance to any persons or organisations appearing to the Department of Finance and Personnel to be concerned with community relations; and

(b) giving financial assistance towards the conduct of research into community relations.

(5) In paragraphs (2) and (3) any reference to community relations shall be construed as including a reference to any matter connected with or affecting those relations.
