The Legal Advice and Assistance (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1986

Section 1 Title and commencement

(1) This Order may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1986.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the expiration of twenty-one days from the day on which it is made.

Section 2 Interpretation

The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Section 3 Eligibility for legal advice and assistance

In Article 3 of the Legal Aid, Advice and Assistance (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 (paragraph (2)(b) of which enables the disposable capital limit on eligibility for legal advice and assistance to be altered by regulations) after paragraph (2) there shall be inserted—

(3) Regulations made by virtue of paragraph (2)(b) may provide for the substitution of different capital sums in relation to—

(a) advice and assistance other than assistance by way of representation; and

(b) assistance by way of representation.
