Local Government (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998

Section 1 Title and commencement

(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the expiration of two months from the day on which it is made.

Section 2 Interpretation

(1) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

(2) In this Order “the 1985 Order ” means the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 1985.

Section 3 Repeal of prohibition on unauthorised camping in designated districts

(1) The following provisions of the 1985 Order are hereby repealed, namely—

(a) Article 9 (prohibition of unauthorised camping in designated districts);

(b) Article 10 (orders for removal of unlawfully parked caravans and their occupants);

(c) the definition of “road” in Article 11.

(2) For the definition of “caravan” and “caravan site” in Article 11 of the 1985 Order there shall be substituted—

“caravan site” has the same meaning as in the Caravans Act (Northern Ireland) 1963;
